Each May we receive a hardbound book known as the ASHRAE handbook. These books are the most widely recognized & cited reference sources for HVAC&R technology in the world. Best part about these books is we receive them at no additional charge (Value $119.00).
We also receive the Journal, which gives monthly updates on our industry, technical & government issues that affect the HVAC&R industry. It also covers topics like energy management, fire & smoke control, IAQ, cogeneration, thermal storage & more.
The society monthly newsletter that features chapter-oriented information & activity reports for technical committees, research projects, conferences & Society meetings.
A 33% discount on all materials through ASHRAE. This includes ASHRAE standards, transactions, research bulletins, manuals, conference proceedings, audiovisual products & more.
Discounts on Society meetings, conferences, Professional Development Seminars and expositions. The ASHRAE/ARI Exposition disseminates the latest developments in products and services for the HVAC&R industry. ASHRAE offers eleven (11) Professional Development Seminars each year.
Attendance at ASHRAE sponsored Professional Development Seminars and Symposiums, Seminars and Forums held at the Winter and Annual Meetings may qualify as Professional Development Hours required for renewal of Professional Engineering licenses in some states. The society also offers 3 self-directed learning courses.
Group rates on Insurance are available for individual & business members. Insurance that is offered includes: Term life, high-limit accident, disability income, major medical expense, excess major medical, in-hospital expenses and Medicare supplement. Just as a side note, my disability & life insurance from ASHRAE was almost ½ the cost as from my previous provider.
Participation in local chapters permits members an opportunity to exchange ideas, hear speakers & develop professional relationships in the local area. It also develops global friendships and business prospects when they attend Regional CRC’s and Society meetings.
In addition to the above benefits, we also receive recognition for our participation when we serve locally on committees and boards. This not only helps us to become more recognized within our local area, but it also benefits the local chapter by making the work needing to be done easier to accomplish by dividing the time needed into more people. Your participation would be greatly appreciated by those of us currently doing the work.
