JOB DESCRIPTION

SEC is seeking to hire a senior Mechanical Engineer with the unique ability to both design and manage projects, and to coordinate our sub-consultants’ design responsibilities.  Duties include full project design responsibilities to include HVAC and plumbing design, equipment selection, mechanical plan layout, specification writing, cost estimating, coordination with other consultants, client interaction, and enhanced construction administration services or commissioning.  This position involves working on several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.  Some local and state travel will be required to perform field investigations, coordinate design requirements, and to build client relations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications required for this position are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis on Mechanical Engineering, with PE license required.
  • Minimum 10 years consulting engineer design experience in engineering of Central Plant with associated utility systems and HVAC systems, from concept to completion.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to develop approaches to projects independently and methodically, and perform detailed execution of mechanical design.
  • Ability to be creative (think outside the box of normal design).
  • Communicates well verbally, in writing, and graphically, with other engineers, clients, and code authorities.
  • Program and/or project management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong personal ambition and work ethic.
  • Strong working knowledge of the International Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire, Energy Conservation, and Fuel Gas codes.
  • Strong working knowledge of the ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, and other industry related standards.
  • Strong personal ambition to be a team player and provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace, Pipe-Flo, CAE-Pipe, MS Office, and other design related software.
  • Active member of ASHRAE.

What you will do

Our continued growth has produced a need for a talented Sprinkler Service Sales Representative to join our team. In this challenging and rewarding role the responsibilities will include professionally representing the Company with respect to the promotion and sale of Fire Sprinkler service offerings to various customers and end users within assigned territory and accounts.

How you will do it

  • Establish contact with prospects and qualify potential buyers of new construction and service contracts by scheduling sales calls, following up on leads and utilizing outlined marketing strategies.
  • Determine customer needs and develop a sales strategy to gain customer understanding of company service offerings.
  • Close sufficient sales to exceed sales plan objectives.
  • Familiar with reading blueprints, understanding current NFPA 13 standards and local codes.
  • Develop a positive ongoing relationship with customers, general contractors and end users.
  • Estimate small projects including day-works as required.
  • Ability to build new business associations / relationships and grow the Sprinkler Service Business.

What we look for

  • Two years Sales experience in a similar industry preferred.
  • Previous sprinkler design experience, including estimating and performing hydraulic calculations preferred.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Technical knowledge of sprinkler systems preferred.
  • Exceptional presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize work.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers to include operating systems such as Window  / Office 2007.
  • Ability & willingness to work as a team player; must be able to work well with others.
